Permanently redact a PDF in your browser
Cover names, account numbers, signatures, addresses, or other sensitive content without sending the document to a server.
Redact a PDF nowRedactions become part of a flattened page image. The original text and PDF objects are not carried into the downloaded copy.
A black annotation is not a redaction
Some PDF editors place a removable shape over the page while leaving the covered text selectable underneath. This tool rebuilds every page from rendered pixels instead.
Step 1
Mark each region
Drag over every piece of content that must not appear in the shared copy.
Step 2
Flatten every page
The browser renders the document and paints opaque black pixels over your selections.
Step 3
Save a separate copy
A fresh PDF is created from the flattened pages and downloaded to your device.
Review the downloaded copy before sharing it
Check every page at a readable zoom. Confirm that each sensitive region is completely covered and that no important content was hidden accidentally.
Keep documents organized after redaction
Stoatify stores, searches, shares, and controls access to documents for personal records, client work, and organization-wide libraries.

Does Stoatify upload my PDF?
No. Your browser reads, displays, and rebuilds the PDF locally. Stoatify receives anonymous tool milestones when analytics are enabled, never the filename, document, page details, or redaction coordinates.
Can someone remove the black boxes?
The tool paints each black rectangle into a rendered page image, then creates a separate PDF from those images. The original text and objects are not copied into the downloaded file.
Can I select text in the downloaded PDF?
No. Every page is flattened into an image. This also removes forms, annotations, links, attachments, and other interactive PDF features.
Is there a file limit?
The tool accepts PDF files up to 25 MB. Very large or complex documents may still exceed the memory available to the browser.
Does the output have a watermark?
No. The downloaded file contains the flattened document and the redactions you placed, without Stoatify branding.
